It has been awhile since I last posted as life just gets in the way sometimes... I am working on the charity quilts for December... the World of Charity Stitchers have been working non stop on their lovely designs and sending Dona and myself the squares to be turned into quilts, needless to say we are trying our best to keep up with them, but the results so far are just lovely. Here are a few that I made, when I get a stack ready they will head out to the quilting room to meet Nellie Belle my long arm quilting machine

One of the WOCS members hand embroidered butterflies and I added a applique band to the center, got to play with my Accuquilt GO Fabric Cutter again

This is the Garden Quilt Top

This quilt top was made from designs found in the Super Sports III pattern book, it was done as a SAL

This is the Birds for Prey top and will go to a Senior Man

Under the Sea Quilt Top, I love the shades of blues on this one and the critters are cute too.

I have also been doing some stitching... this little guy was stitched for a long legged bird quilt, I will be making the Holiday Birds and Dona will be sewing the 4 seasons birds

This is a kit I had gotten in a box of kits at a Ebay auction, finally getting around to stitching some of the kits

This is a EQ7 design I made for the Teapot Quilt, which I just happen to be in the middle of making.. I am waiting on the last teapot square to come in to finish this one up

this is the EQ 7 design for my vision of butterflies quilt.

each butterfly has been stitched by a member and they also chose the fabric to border their square. I am waiting on 6 more butterflies to come in to finish this one, can't wait to see how it turns out.

I also have yet another Dolly Mama in the works and she is soon to be finished and I will be starting on the Farm quilt as all those blocks are in. Then it will be on to making Emily's Teal and gray quilt as I just picked up the fabric for that one. Then there is a quilt for Jen to raffle off for their Sunday School Class.. I also have about 6 other family quilts to get busy on.

Plus with all the above, we were out shopping Saturday and I picked up a large box of apples so I can make the much requested Apple Butter...

I am starting to get so excited, you see SewCalGal's web site will soon be hosting another Pet on a Quilt Show.. This was so much fun last year, there were so many great entries. There were quilts with pet themes and quilts with pets on them... I just loved looking at all the entries, I was amazed at how beautiful some were and some just made me laugh... My all time favorite was a applique dog chewing a quilt up, it was so cute... Accuquilt Giveaways for November

Once again I am being the nicest person and letting everyone know of the Accuquilts Giveaways that are underway for November. I really think I am going to give up trying to win one of these machines, Lady Luck is just not cooperating. I did find one thing that was a problem with the whole process, My problem with CSN Stores was, that there are way to many things to choose from. I made my choice and the winner was the Rowenda Iron.

I ordered my iron online, and that process was so easy, just sit back and wait. In just a few short days a box appeared at my door, now how easy is that. I was so excited, I opened the box and there it was my beautiful Rowenda Iron, It was packed in its own box and then that box was in another box that had air pillows around it, there was no way that iron would get any damage during shipment, I think a elephant could have sat on the box and the iron would have been OK. I know you are wondering WHY would I get a iron and not a purse or jewelry box or splurge on shoes. I almost went for a beautiful handbag

but I changed my mind. I really needed that perfect iron for my sewing room. You see I make charity quilts and as any quilter will tell you, a really good iron is key in the making of a quilt. I love my Rowenta Iron, best Iron I have used.

Pets on a Quilt

Bird Quilt

I don't know if this quilt meets the rules because WOCS members cross stitched the birds, but the quilt is my design and my work. This quilt along with 6 others were sent to the senior at the Century Care Center in July.
I wanted to add this lovely quilt to the Pets on a Quilt contest site. I belong to a group called World of Charity Stitchers, a yahoo group that cross stitches squares and then sends them to a quilter to be made into a lovely quilt. These quilts will be donated to nursing homes, abused women and children shelter, seriously ill children and cancer patients. The members of this group stitch beautifully, I am one of the honored members who get to turn their work into these lovely quilts that will bring a smile to someones face. We are a small group, but word is getting out on our work and the good it does and our membership is increasing. EQ 7 and a Cruise

Look what my wonderful Hubby bought me, Electric Quilt 7 software. I know I tried to win a version, I tried to have my blog chosen to host a giveaway, but no luck for any of those. I have been using the EQ Wizard to design the quilts I make for my charity group and I really liked it. EQ Wizard was a real help to me, making my job of designing and sewing these quilts go so smoothly. I just loved my EQ Wizard but I wanted more, I wanted to have all the whistles and bells there was, guess I am just a computer geek at heart. Now that I have the EQ 7, I need to get busy and learn how to use it, there are so many things this program can do. So I will be busy for quite some time with my eyes glued to this computer screen, learning my new software.

I love Giveaways and recently I won a Gift Certificate to the Reading Glasses Shopper web site. I had worn prescription glasses and every year I would have to go in and have my prescription made stronger, that is until I stopped by the eyeglass shop in our local discount store. I thought I could have my eyes checked, order my glasses and go shopping. The Doctor informed me that he could give me stronger glasses, but I had a deeper problem and the glasses were just postponing what needed to be done. I had cataracts (and yes I was young), so I went to see a specialist, had surgery on both eyes and WOW who turned on the lights, I could see. I no longer needed prescription glasses, I was told to pick up a pair of readers, no prescription needed. So for the past 10 years I have bought readers. I don't need them all the time, mostly when I am on the computer or working on crafts. I have a magnifying glass light in the craft room which is great for tiny work at my desk. But last year I started doing Counted Cross Stitching again and on the very tiny thread counts it was so hard to see clearly, even with my glasses on. So I tried the magnifier that goes over you neck for stitcher's, it worked, but it got in my way. I tried the one that goes on your head magnifier with the built in light that my husband has for his coins, no way on that one either as it is big and bulky and just plain uncomfortable for me. So my solution is to get the strongest readers I could find. In the stores the strongest I found was a 3.0 and they worked so much better, but they are hard to find. Than I saw the contest for Reading Glasses Shopper, I went to their web site to select my choice and WOW there was 4.0 glasses and at great prices, I saved the site and decided that I needed to try a pair of the 4.0 glasses. I was surprised that I had won the giveaway in January, and the minute I was notified that I was the winner I ordered a pair of the 4.0 for me to use with crafting and for my husband I ordered a 3.0 for him to use with his coin collecting.

The glasses came in really quickly, I was so excited to try them out and YES they worked perfectly for my cross stitching, they were made really well, rather stylish and very comfortable. I now have them in the cabinet beside my chair, close at hand for when I am stitching. I just love my new glasses and I know I will be ordering more. Welcome to Nanbon's newest blog site. Come in, Sit down and lets have a chat about all the wonderful things we like. There are so many new and old products on the market that we want to try and here I will let you know what I think about them. After all I AM THE GADGET QUEEN and I am always on the lookout for that next great product that will make my life just a little bit easier.
